Silence Sings its Song

Silence sings its song
Moon wanes through windowpanes
And silence sings its song
Mother kisses her child goodnight
And silence sings its song
Darkness cloaks the day
—stars go out astray
And silence sings its song
Oh silence sings its song
Heaven weeps with tiny tears
And silence sings its song
Birds fly in the dead of night
Yet silence sings its song
A fire dies down softly
And silence sings its song
But alas the Sun awakes
And brightens the Earth with a
-gentle quake, and children,
yes children,sing their song

  1. Wonderful use of repetition here. It feels as though the silence that is a part of every day is descending, covering all like a comfortable (and comforting) blanket.
