Stranger Things

Stranger Things

(Season 1)

Stanger Things, where to start with this… pretty much everyone has heard of it. What can I say that hasn’t already been said? Well, I really can only state my opinion on it, so here we go.

One night, a kid named Will goes missing, and his friends and family try to find him. Sounds simple, right? Well… there’s also an alternate dimension, a giant monster, a secret lab, lots of flashing lights, Eggos, ‘80s nostalgia, and a mysterious little girl.

One thing about this show is that follows three different groups searching for Will. You’ve got Mike, Dustin, and Lucas (Will’s best friends), and Eleven (the previously mentioned “mysterious little girl”). You’ve got Will’s mom and the policeman investigating the case. And finally you’ve got Will’s brother and Mike’s sister (you think that they would be in a relationship, but she won’t dump that idiot Steve).

You will follow one group and then think, “What’s going on with that one thing?” And then you see what’s going on with that. At points it shows things that seem irrelevant, but turn out to be a major plot point later in the series. The show seems to keep  loose ends, and you think, “how will they tie this together?” And then it ties every little detail together very nicely. Although, I feel that the show started not very good, but you keep going because this show has a strange way of keeping you going, and by the time you realize that the show got good, you don’t know exactly when.

Now, as for the presentation, a lot of people say that the music is great, well… I disagree. You see, the music is well done and fits the situation really well, but it’s not something that I’d want to listen to without the context of the show, aside from just spooky background noise. But as for the cast, I feel like they did a great job with their characters, their tone fits the mood of the situation, and they feel like believable characters, even if one of them has crazy psychic powers.

I’m gonna cut this post off here. I could talk more, but I really don’t want to spoil anything, because you really should watch it yourself, there are good characters, mysterious mysteries, and plenty of spooky moments (plus all that stuff I mentioned at the beginning). You really won’t regret watching this. I started watching because people said it was good, and I’m glad, because I personally really enjoyed it.
