Original Poem

The Day I Looked Like Frida

By: Wesley Flores

The day I looked like Frida

It wasn’t bad at all

The day I looked liked Frida

I wanted to hurl my guts in a stall

The day I looked like Frida

I had to go up on a stage

The day I looked like Frida

I felt old with age

The day I looked like Frida

I heard everyone hoop and holler

The day I looked like Frida

I felt ten feet taller

The day I looked like Frida

Was good and fun

The day I looked like Frida

I was glad it was done

The day I looked like Frida

I didn’t feel like myself not one bit

The day I look like Frida

I feel like I didn’t fit

The day I looked like Frida

Was kinda like a key

The day I looked like Frida

It made me feel a little bit more like me

Authors Note

I had wanted right about being Frida Kahlo because I had a wide range of emotions that day it was very interesting for me. When I was writing the poem I wanted to describe the different feelings I had during different moments, so before, during, and after. When I was Frida I had to right a speech and dress like her (photo below) for this play for biography day. I decided to put “The day I looked like Frida was because I felt the had to be some clarity about what I was doing.

The Nightmare That Continues

Look around

To the left

theres trouble

he

peered down

empty

he continued

he

stopped dead he

was paralyzed

with fear

he

woke up

nothing
