Pottermore

Finally!!!!!

I just got a Pottermore account and I am SUPER EXCITED! In case you don’t know, Pottermore is basically the Harry Potter fandom website. It has sorting quizzes for your Hogwarts house, writing from J.K. Rowling, and guides to the Harry Potter universe.

I took the Hogwarts sorting quiz and got Ravenclaw (yes! I was kind of nervous about that) and my Illvermorny house is Thunderbird, so I guess that makes me a Thunderclaw. Or a Ravenbird. My Patronus is a Nebelung cat, but I don’t really know what that means. My wand is Cedar with a unicorn hair, 14 1/2 inches long, and “unbending flexibility”. That last part seems kind of like an oxymoron to me, but that’s what the quiz results said.

Now I want to say a little bit about Ilvermorny. Ilvermorny is the American wizarding school, a Hogwarts for America. There is a very long and interesting story about Ilvermorny on Pottermore. The gist of that story is: a girl flees from Britain to get away from….. someone (read the story to find out who, and why the girl fled from her). She takes a ship to North America, but she always wanted to go to Hogwarts. So when the time came for a wizarding school in America, she seized the chance, and Ilvermorny was born. The real article is very interesing, you should check it out! There is also an article on the history of magic in North America. If any of you are on Pottermore, you should check those articles out.

Pottermore seems really cool so far, with lots of extra writing from J.K. Rowling, and, of course, the sorting quizzes. My questions are: Are you on Pottermore? If so what is your house (both Hogwarts and Ilvermorny)? What is your Patronus? And what wand do you have?

I am super interested in exploring this “Magical corner of the internet” as Rowling describes it, and I have high hopes for my findings!

Harry Potter

September 1st has passed, and while I am slightly disappointed that my letter to Hogwarts hasn’t arrived yet, I still hold out hope for next year. Despite the lack of a trip to Platform 9 3/4 and a ride on the Hogwarts Express, I consider myself a Harry Potter nerd. I started reading the series later than most of my friends did, about when I was in 4th or 5th grade. My favorite book in the series is pretty much all of them, but I like The Sorcerers’ Stone, The Prisoner of Azkaban, The Half Blood Prince, and the Deathly Hallows the best. Ditto for the movies. I really want to go to Harry Potter World at Universal Studios, it sounds super fun. My house is Ravenclaw, what’s yours?
