You can't put a limit on anything

Unless…

Unless…

I am nothing
I don’t think that
I know why I am here
It’s cold
It’s dark
It’s raining
And still I persevere
I seem hopeless
I’m a failure
No one can say
I have succeeded

Unless I reverse it…

I have succeeded
No one can say
I’m a failure
I seem hopeless
And still I persevere
It’s raining
It’s dark
It’s raining
I know why I am here
I don’t think that…
I am nothing

Author’s Note
I chose do a poem in this setting because I have so often experienced that same feeling when waking up for swim practice. I noticed that as I stood on the side of the pool, I often found myself making excuses not to hop into the water.
However, once I have been in the water for a relatively short time, I notice that all the things I was worrying about, no longer really affect me. I feel like this is a metaphor for life. The more you worry about things, the less you want to do them. It’s better just to get them over with than to worry about them unnecessarily.
The main message that I am trying to convey is that you’ll have to do unpleasant things in life, and that it’s best to do them quickly.
