An Open Letter to Book Readers
I’m writing this letter to readers to tell you I know your pain. The pain of not being able to find a good book. The pain of being stopped right in the middle of the good part. The pain of the book ending on a cliffhanger. I understand it all, but you should always keep on waiting. For you always find a good book, you will always have time later to read that good part, and the next book will come out sometime.
You should never give up on a book halfway through, read it to the end, it almost always gets better. The book you’re reading might have a bit of a dry spell, but try your best to make it through. Cause then you’ll never know how it ended. Like some people read the first couple pages of Harry Potter and said it’s boring,- I know unbelievable- and they refused to go back and read the whole thing. So you should always finish a book, never get discouraged by a couple boring pages because you never know what masterpiece is hiding right under your nose.
Never, ever, judge a book by its cover. I know a cliche, right. Well it’s unbelievable how many people do it. I admit I’ve done it a couple times, you know the usual that’s a girly book and that book isn’t my kind of book. I feel like such a hypocrite, but sometimes you do it subconsciously. Lots of times a bad book gets a good cover and good book gets a bad cover. You don’t know what marvelous stories are behind that horrendous cover. The Lone Star books helped me with this. They would show you amazing books that have been awarded as some of the best books of that year. Some books might look horrible, but try reading a bit and it might be one of the best books you’ve ever read.
So whenever you read a book or a series try not to get too upset by cliffhangers, or things not going the way you want them to. Never stop reading halfway. If you start a book, finish it.
Never stop reading,
I’m currently rereading a series called Michael Vey. I love the series a lot. It’s currently at six books. However the seventh book is coming out this fall.
The book is about to this character named Michael Vey. He’s special, in that he has electrical powers. However he’s not alone and there are others like him, sixteen others to be exact. He’s been trying to live a normal life with his mother when suddenly he meets someone like him, Taylor. But then through a mishap caused by Taylor, Taylor and his mother end up kidnapped by an evil organization called Elgen and it’s up to Michael and his best friend, Ostin, to rescue them.
I first read this book last year and I loved it a lot. I highly recommend this book to people who are into Science Ficition and superpowers. However the sixth book in this series ended on a big cliffhanger. I won’t say what it is, but just as a warning it has a big cliffhanger. I can’t wait for the seventh book to come out this fall.
I hate it when a book I really want to read is checked-out. Sometimes it takes the person weeks to read the book, which really angers me. Some people don’t even read the book constantly they just keep putting it off until they finally finish by reading five pages a day.
I wish that people could be more considerate when they check out a book because their are other people who want to read that book. Some people don’t even read their books some days and just have sitting at home or in their backpack gathering dust.
I just think that if you want to check out a book think are you really going to read it or just leave it unopened. You don’t have to check out a book you’re not goin to read. I mean what’s th point of that there are people who want to read that book, and by that I mean actually read it not just leave it on a desk or in their backpack.
So please just remember that if you check out a book, think if you actually want to read it, or just leave it in your backpack. Try to finish your books within the return time and especially try not to lose it.
Books are amazing, they let you do amazing things, like get your point across, journey to amazing worlds, and simply tell a story. Books are great and here are some reasons why.
First off, books let you put yourself in an amazing world. You can travel across oceans, reach the stars, and even go to a completely different dimension. Books like Fivekingdoms let you travel to a completely new world with magic and creatures never before seen. Letting you put yourself in somewhere new is one of the reasons books are great.
Another reason is that it helps you tell your story. For example biographies, they tell the lives of people. They show us how they lived and what happened to them. It also shows all the problems they faced and all the hardships they had. They even sometimes contain a hidden warning so as to not repeat the same mistake they did. So the other reason books are great is because they tell you the story of people.
There are many different reasons as to why books are great, but in my opinion the biggest is that they’re fun. I mean there are two reasons as to why you would do something, you have to or you want to, books can be in either but I’d rather have it be in the I want to.
Have you ever heard a fact that is so weird you could just not believe it? For example did you know that handshakes were originally meant to make sure that the person you were meeting wasn’t carrying a concealed weapon and when you shook their hand it was supposed to shake out any concealed weapons in their sleeves. I mean how crazy is that!
Another example, is the fact that the colder the room you sleep in is, the more likely it is that you will have a bad dream. So you better not sleep in any cold rooms unless you’re a fan of nightmares. And did you know that the color orange was named after the fruit not the other way around, I mean who’d have thought. The color seems to be used a lot more than the fruit, but I mean facts are facts.
while they’re are a lot of weird facts out there are on the internet not all of them are true, as you know the term don’t believe everything you read on the internet. However weird facts are extremely interesting and entertaining. Before I end this post here is one more weird fact it’s impossible to swallow four times in a row, and even just three is extremely difficult. Go on, try it, I bet you won’t make it to four because it’s impossible.
Passing, and passing, and passing. Ugh! Just shoot already. Geez! Soccer can be a really boring sport to watch.
First off, they pass way too much during the game. I mean I know it helps during the game, always pass, and all that. But just don’t pass when you don’t need. Plus they sometimes are really dumb and pass to the opposing team by making a really bad pass. They should shoot more and pass less, then they might score more. Them passing around too much is one of the reasons why soccer can be a boring sport to watch.
One other reason Soccer can be boring is they rarely make any goals. If they made more shots/goals it could make the game a lot less boring, but sadly they don’t. The lack of goals makes this a very boring game to watch.
There are many sports more interesting to watch than soccer. Some people enjoy watching soccer, but I’m not one of them. But playing soccer is another thing, soccer is a lot more enjoyable to play than to watch. I’d much rather play soccer than watch it.
Have you ever heard a law that you just could not believe is true much less that people followed it. For example did you know that in Alabama you can’t have an ice cream cone in your back pocket. Or that putting salt on a railroad track is punishable by death ( also in Alabama ). There are a bunch of these weird laws in every country and city.
Some of the laws don’t even make sense for example in Texas if two trains meet each other at a railroad crossing, both have to come to a full stop, and neither can proceed until the other has gone. How does that even work if they come to a full stop and can’t move on how is the other one supposed to proceed. Another weird one is in New York you can not throw a ball at another person’s head just for fun, I mean imagine of little kids throwing balls at each other and someone hits someone in the head. And hear this one the penalty for jumping off a building is death.
Honestly whoever came up with these laws either has a strange sense of humor, a weird sense of justice, or just plain out believes these are serious things that require laws. Well at least we can get a laugh out of it. But still they should try rethinking these laws they feel a little outdated. Here’s one last weird law before the end of this post, did you know that in Kentucky You may not dye a duckling blue and offer it for sale unless more than six are for sale at once. I mean honestly who would do that anyway.
Have you ever heard a weird phobia, that you just couldn’t believe is an actual phobia? Well they’re true.
Some of them are really funny like Consecotaleophobia, fear of chopsticks. While others are kinda ironic like Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia, fear of long words, imagine having that fear and trying to say that. There are all types of fears, including really weird ones like these.
For more weird phobia you can find websites like this, that show you many weird and funny phobias. Here’s one last phobia Anatidaephobia the fear of being stalked or watched by a duck. This kinda makes me feel bad for people with these fears if they’re afraid of a duck following them.
I have always thought that fun facts are really interesting. From the phobias to weird banned stuff in some countries. I have always loved them.
I sometimes like to look them up for example did you know that Facebook addiction disorder is an actual mental disorder identified by psychologists also known as FAD. Or that Pteronophobia is the fear of being tickled by feathers. And that eating mince pies in the UK on Christmas day is illegal! Or here’s another fun phobia Cheri phobia the fear of fun! There’s also one that says that banging your head against a wall burns 150 calories per hour.
I have always loved fun facts, and I really think that they are really interesting. If you have any post them below and I might add it next week.
What would you change, if you could go back in time.
Would you clean the world of it’s grime.
Or would you help someone survive.
Maybe you’d be selfish, and keep yourself alive.
Would you want to meet your ancestors.
Or would you be a quester.
Maybe you’d choose to stop a war.
You might choose to do it to settle a score.
Whatever you choose to do.
And whatever fun you may brew.
Just remember not to miss home.
Because home is wherever you may roam.
I selected this topic because I thought it would be interesting what people would want to do if they could go back in time. I hope the readers will think about what they will want to if they could go back in time. I wanted to get across the message that there are many things you could do or change if you could travel through time.
