The End of 7th Grade

Posted on

This is my last required blog post of the school year. It is crazy how fast this year came and went. It feels as if I just started 7th grade a few months ago. It feels as if I just started this blog.

There were many big moments this year. Murray turned one on this blog. I got Shelly on this blog. I started my first blog this year. Before this year, I never even imagined that I would meet people from other countries through blogging. Blogging became my favorite weekly homework assignment of the year.

Overall, this has been a great 7th grade year. I still can’t believe next week is the last week of school. I hope I continue blogging even after it isn’t homework. Let’s finish my last post of the seventh grade year with some happy pictures.

Why Dogs are the Best Pets Ever

Posted on

You walk down the stairs and open up his crate. He greets you with his happy wiggle. Dogs are the best pets ever!

For starters, you could never meet a creature that loves water as much as a dog. They will tire themselves out just by swimming back and forth. They can even get hydration at the same time. Labradors are the best water dogs there are. Do cats enjoy water as much as Labradors? I think not.

And, dogs, especially Labradors, will cuddle with you anytime. When you hug them, they don’t resist. Some dogs even roll over for a belly rub when you come to cuddle them. Labradors can cuddle for hours, especially Murray!

In conclusion, dogs, Labradors in specific, are the best. And for that matter, Murray is the best pet there is.

Are there any dogs cuter than this little goofball?

11 1/2 Days Until School is Out!

The winter break is coming up really soon! Along with break, the holidays are starting! This is the season where everyone is happy about something. Everyone is getting ready for the holidays right now. In English we are even reading A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Ebenezer Scrooge is the only person who isn’t happy about the holiday season, and he is a character from a fiction book. The only thing that you can wait for is finals week.

I have a big semester exam for math during finals week. This seems like a really beefy test. We take it over multiple days. I wish that we could just have winter break and skip all the tests. Enough about testing, let’s go back to the bottom line—the holidays.

People in my neighborhood have started putting Christmas lights up. My dad and I have started. Last weekend we put up our snowflakes, put lights on the trees, wrapped the outside stair handles with lights, and wrapped the inside stair handles with lights. We also hung the stockings up. We have a lot more work to do before we are ready for Christmas. We still need a tree, and we still need to set our inflatable penguin up in our front lawn and put up all the other lights.

I can already tell that this is going to be a great Christmas. This is going to be Murray’s first Christmas. He is adjusting well to all the lights and smells. We have even gotten him a stocking with a picture of a dog looking at a Christmas tree.

Hopefully these weeks pass fast because I am really excited for everything (other than testing).

Murray is 1!

Guess who just turned 1. Murray! That’s right recently Murray turned one and had a great day to celebrate the occasion. His day started off pretty calm, he woke up, ate, and went to the bathroom. After the normal routine was taken care of we gave him his first present. His first present was a circle chew toy that looked a little like a teething ring. He ran off with it and chewed away. Later he came back again and we gave him another present—a bone shaped chew toy. He wasn’t as interested with it as much as the first toy but he chewed for a little while. After he was through with chewing he decided to take a nap. After a nice long nap we gave him the last of the the three toys. This toy was like none that he has had before. This toy is a normal plastic chew bone with a rubber center that has crevices and rounded rubber spikes. You really have to see it to understand. Anyways, he loved it and chewed on it for a while, and then we decided to go to the park. We brought a towel, a tennis ball, a leash, and Murray. When we got out of the car Murray was very eager to explore—he immediately sped out to the grass and sniffed in the smell of other dogs. As we started to walk we saw quite a few people and dogs. Most of the dogs weren’t in the mood to play so as Murray got excited the other dogs just growled. When we finally made it to the lake Murray couldn’t wait to hop in to the water. When we released him he ran down the ramp and slowly moved into the deeper area of the lake. He was an excellent swimmer—especially with the fact that this was his first time in water that you can actually swim in. He got the hang of and began to try and fetch a few things. A few things were too far for a new swimmer to retrieve, but he retrieved a few sticks. After a little swimming he was soaked and worn out so we started to head back to the car. On the way to the car we saw people collecting things. My dad asked them and they said that they were collecting pecans. Apparently it is pecan season in Texas, and there are pecan trees at the park. We collected a few before we reached the car. When we got there Murray was still soaked so he sat on the towel for the ride home. When we got home we saw all the mud on him and decided to give him a bath. He jumped into the tub and I turned the water on. As soon as I started to use the shower head he went crazy. He was running in the tub and in the room (this is a small bathroom so the water covered everything). After he calmed down I used the shower head again, rubbed on the soap, and rinsed him. After his bath he was completely exhausted so we gave him a slice of this doggy birthday cake/treat thing then he went to sleep. That was the end of his 1st birthday. Murray’s Latest Doggy Days

Posted on

Murray (my dog) has taken on a new hobby, whimpering. He usually is quiet (for the most part) and sweet, but lately he has been whimpering a lot.

When my dad got home from work yesterday he whimpered. Murray sat at the door and whimpered away. After waiting at the door for a few minutes the whimpering became loud barks. Imagine doing your homework with a dog whimpering and barking frequently. Let me tell you, it isn’t very fun.

Murray has also started to howl. Each howl is mixed into a few barks. This is how my dog sounds when he hears something outside: arf arf arf arf arf arooooooooooo arf arf arf. There are plenty of people (and dogs) walking in our neighborhood so we hear that bark howl combination quite often.

Now I know that I have been complaining this whole post but Murray really is an awesome pup. Murray is a loud, sweet, and happy puppy. Although I don’t really like his new “hobbies” I love almost everything else about him.

Here is picture I took of Murray:
