Are Sunglasses Made by Luxottica Really Worth the Money?

It’s no doubt that Ray-Ban, Oakley, or even Ralph Lauren sunglasses are the most popular brands today. You might not know that a factory named Luxottica owns and produces sunglasses for these famous companies. Luxottica is an Italian sunglass manufacturer founded in 1961 by Leonardo Del Vecchio. With a yearly revenue of $10.74 billion, Luxottica’s income is 60% of all sunglass sales. This company marks up their products more than 200%. Luxottica not only produces the majority of sunglasses and eyewear in the world but they own most of the speciality stores that sell them.

I strongly believe that you should not buy from Luxottica, because they tend to be extremely overpriced, and are produced with cheaper quality. My favorite sunglass brands are Maui Jim and Dior. These smaller two brands are made with top quality and materials, and are not manufactured by Luxottica. Luxottica started the monopolization of sunglasses, so be aware of which companies you buy from.
