How To Join A Fandom

By the way if you don’t know what a fandom or fangirling is then I suggest looking at some of my earlier posts.

Yes, I know there isn’t one special way to join a fandom. However, some people find a TV show or something and they just stay at the level of “really liking” the show. Lets just say you are one of those people who watch the first episode of a show and sort of like it, but you just can’t see yourself watching the show for hours on end. For example, when I started watching Supernatural I wasn’t on that level of fangirling over it; (luckily?) I looked it up on the internet and spoiled the whole series for myself, and now I’m trying to get to season 4 so I can see Castiel. So what is my favorite way to join a fandom?

Here are the steps I take before/while joining a fandom:

Step 1

Do a less than 10 minute search on the internet and get somewhat familiar with some of the characters and/or plot.

Step 2

Watch the first few episodes; maybe like 3 to 6.

Step 3

Pick your favorite character(s), but if you have found a character that you really like on step 1, then I guess just stick with that. You might find an awesome character later, but it depends on the show.

Step 4 (optional, remember this is what I do)

Spoil a lot of the series for yourself so that you know if your favorite charaters will/won’t die. If you skip this step then good luck trying not to drown in your tears.

Step 5

Watch a few more episodes (3-7 more). By now if you don’t like the show then I would just quit watching it– don’t waste your time sleeping through the whole show.

Step 6 (optional)

If you completed step 5 then by now you might start wishing that you had some friends to watch the show with you, so get some people to watch it. I’ve actually only succeeded in this step a few times.

Step 7

Make some popcorn and get comfortable.

Good luck!

Writer’s Block

Ah, writers block my old friend enemy. For those of you who don’t know, writer’s block is something that someone (most likely a writer) suffers from when they don’t know what to write about. Today, I am suffering from a case of writer’s block, but not anymore! I’m writing about writer’s block.

I actually have a lot of good ideas for books (mostly fan fictions), but I never have any motivation to write them. That’s my main problem, no motivation. Sometimes though, I really want to write a fan fiction, so I start on the first few chapters but then I just lose all of my motivation to write it.

For example, I was once really motivated to write a FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood fan fiction, and I had even written the first seven chapters (which in total took me around 12-ish hours). Then I moved on to a different fandom and sort of forgot about that fan fiction. Every once in a while I really want to continue writing that fan fiction, but then I think about the fact that I would have to re-write the first seven chapters because of all my grammar mistakes and how I just did a really bad job explaining things (the reader would have gotten bored). Now that I am a better writer than I was at the start of the year, I might start re-writing the chapters and continuing the story.

Let’s just say you’re writing a story that’s not a fan fiction. Well, first I would start out imaging the whole story (or at least what would be the first few chapters). That includes the characters, how you would start the book (what event), or even how the book would end. You might also want to have a goal about how many pages you write per day.

FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood: A Review

So, FullMetal Alchemist is a anime which consists of 2 different series, each series has most the same characters, but has a different plot, although the same main problem. But I’m going to focus on the 2nd series, FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, because I think it’s better.
2 brothers, Edward and Alphonse, who are both alchemists, attempt human transmutation on their dead mother to try and bring her back. Human transmutation is forbidden among alchemists, and has never been successfully done. Well, of course there attempt fails, therefor resulting in Edward losing his leg and arm, and his brother losing his whole body. Edward (of course) saves his brother by binding his soul to a suit of armor nearby.
Their whole quest, or main problem, is to “get their body’s back” to how they where. A bunch of stuff happens and they eventually (after about 60 episodes) succeed in doing so.
What I Think
The Homunculi ( artificially created humans, AKA the bad guys) are my favorite characters. The creators of this series did a great job on them and I haven’t seen any better bad guys In any series or movie. It was also unique that they named all the homunculi after the the 7 sins (envy, greed, lust, pride, sloth, gluttony, and wrath).
Some of the episodes are rated TV-14 for the violence, but I would recommend it to almost anyone. Also, each episode is about 20 to 30 minutes, but action packed and totally awesome. The series is a bit slow starting (in my opinion) but gets ALOT better as it goes on (not that I’m saying that it has a bad beginning). A bunch of 100% unpredictable events happen, I didn’t even see it coming, so it definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat. The opening theme songs are really good (of course, it gets better as the series goes on), but it’s in Japanese so unless you know it, you don’t know what there saying.
WARNING: if you get attached to the antagonists, prepare for the worst day of your life!
Anyway…… the series is really good and you should watch it!
This is my second favorite theme song, the first I couldn’t find.

The first person to guess my top 3 characters (in order) I will comment 1 time on your blog! If you don’t have a blog, then you will get my congratulations!  If you already know them please don’t guess. YOU CAN ONLY GUESS ONCE.
Hint: 1st favorite character shows up 3 times in the above theme song
2nd favorite shows up zero times because he wasn’t introduced as a important enough character in the above theme song
3rd favorite shows up once  in the above theme song
And, yes, there are in fact hints through out this post, you just have to look carefully (if at all).
