Spirit Animals

When I found out that this weeks Student Blogging Challenge post is supposed to be about anything related to animals my literal response was, “Wait. What? I can’t even decide on what my favorite animal is!” Luckily for me, after sitting at the computer desk for 10 minutes I came up with writing this post about spirit animals.

This is what the Urban Dictionary says about spirit animals:

In pagan religions and systems, a spirit animal or totem is meant to be a representation of the traits and skills that you are supposed to learn or have. Online, saying something or someone is your spirit animal is a statement that said person or thing is a representation of you or what you want to be.

For example, if you are someone who quick thinking your spirit animal might be a fox. I know, I know, foxes general associated with being sly (“sly as a fox”) or something to do with tricking people, but as spirit animal a fox is not supposedly bad. If you want to learn more about the fox spirit animal click here.

Now what about your own spirit animal? If you want to take the quiz click here to take it. I got a wolf, which according to that same website means that I have (and I do quote) “sharp intelligence, deep connection with instincts, trust or lack thereof in someone or in yourself” I do partly agree with this because I do sometimes lack in trusting people especially when it comes to trusting people to do projects correctly or neatly. I guess you can say that I’m just a little bit OCD while organizing or doing stuff correctly. Not to mention that I have a very small group of close friends (compared to some people) and I trust all of them except when it comes to projects. The other two qualities listed for a wolf are somewhat wrong and right, although I do feel like they do describe some aspects of me.

If you want to learn more about yourself and your spirit animal then I would definitely try taking the quiz linked in the above paragraph. Knowing more about yourself can come in handy!

If you took the quiz, then what animal did you get?

My Trip

So this is week 8 of the Student Blogging Challenge, and I guess this time I’m planning a trip to a few different countries. Three of the countries that I would visit are the UK, Japan, and New Zealand. Of course, I am assuming that I’d already know Japanese by the time that I’m 18 (when I would be leaving on my trip). In total, (according to my parents) the cost would be about $10,000. I would be going during the summer so I would pack a mix of long sleeve and short sleeve shirts just in case of weather changes.

Time

According to this time calculator (on a plane) it should take about 9 hours to get from the USA to the UK, and then 12 hours from the UK to Japan, and from Japan to New Zealand it’s about 12 hours– not to mention the time to get back to the USA which would be about 16 hours. In total I would be flying on a plane for about 49 hours, which is about 2 whole days. I would also be staying at each country for a week or so, depending on what is most convenient. Instead of calling my friends and family back in the USA I would email or text them, this would wipe out the time zone problem.

Visiting

While in the UK I would visit London and go visit some of the Sherlock and Doctor Who filming locations and take some tours there. I might also go to a comic con if there’s one going on at the time that I’m there. In Japan I might wander around and go on a few tours, and in New Zealand I would visit some of The Hobbit filming areas, including Hobbiton in Matamata.

I would love to go on a trip like this– it would be so much fun! After I get back home I would probably start planning my next trip around the world.

Since Christmas 2014…

Activity 1 was the FreeRice.Com sign up, and I’ve already done that, so here is Activity 2: writing about celebrations I have taken part in since Christmas 2014!

Some of the events I have taken part in (actually participating, other than a day off from school)  since Christmas 2014 are:

Epcot - Reflections of a New Year

New years Eve- This celebrated the beginning of the new year (2015). During New Year’s I was at my Uncle’s house hanging out with relatives until around 10:00 pm. My family then went to my grandma’s house to watch the New York ball drop thing that airs every year on that day. After that I stayed up a bit past 12:00 pm and texted all my friends “HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!” To which only a few of them actually responded.

Ash Wednesday- Where us Christians give up something (candy, electronics, something that you have or use that is bad for you or something you think you should stop doing) for 46 days (until Easter). I had said that I would eat LESS snacks between meals which I believe that I have done a good job with.

St. Patrick’s Day- This celebrates St. Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland. To celebrate I went out of my way to wear green so that no one would pinch me.

Since there aren’t very many holidays after Christmas 2014 until now I don’t exactly have a lot to write about, but the ones I just listed are the more memorable ones; excluding most of the holidays when we had a day off between Christmas and now because I didn’t exactly “celebrate” those. Thanks for reading!

SUPERWHOLOCK

Blogging challenge activity 2!

If you don’t know what Supernatural, Doctor Who, or Sherlock are about, then click the links. Thanks!

The first fandom that I had ever joined was the Doctor Who fandom. Before then, I had no idea what the word “fandom” meant. While watching Doctor Who I looked up “fandom” on the Internet and one of the first things that popped up was SuperWhoLock pictures– a combination of Supernatural, Doctor Who, and Sherlock.

Before I knew it I had finished watching all 8 seasons (the most recent seasons) of Doctor Who, and I then started watching Sherlock. After Sherlock I joined a bunch of other fandoms including Merlin and Death Note. Eventually my friends started to say to watch Supernatural, so here I am now: watching Supernatural.

Just a few days ago the question arose: which TV show between Supernatural, Doctor Who, and Sherlock was most popular? I haven’t finished Supernatural yet (I’m on season 3), so I can’t really say. My favorite TV show out of  SuperWhoLock  so far is Sherlock because of all of the mysteries involved *cough* and how insane the fandom is. *cough*

So what do you think? Supernatural? Doctor WhoSherlock? If you have only watched one or two of the three, then feel free to vote for your favorite so far!

Colorado Trip

During the Summer my family and I went to Colorado. If any one doesn’t know, the weather in Colorado (or at least were I was) is sort of unpredictable.  On my first day there it hailed, and on all the other days it either hailed or rained.  One of my last days there we went horseback riding and it was probably the most memorable part of the trip. There wasn’t a trail, and the so-called “trail” went straight through a  cow pasture– I guess in Colorado they let their cows run lose or something.  Anyway, it started to rain in the middle of the ride! We had to go under some trees (I know that might sound like a bad idea to some of you) so that we wouldn’t get wet, and we had to stay there until the rain slowed down. The trip was over all really fun, and I want to go back to Colorado.

Have you ever gone to Colorado?

Night Owl 4-Ever

Anyone who knows me might know that I can’t stay up late talking or moving around, but I could stay up until 12:00 reading a book or something. But even if I do go to sleep early, I still wake up late, and when I do wake up early, the mornings are almost terrible. My brother is an early bird and wakes up way before me. During the night I study, if I have a test the next day, because for some reason I don’t concentrate as well when I study during the day. Once over the weekend I slept in until 12:00 in the afternoon! It was such a surprise to me that when I went upstairs I didn’t believe that it was 12:00 even though my family was telling me that it was.

Fandom Terms

About a week ago I went to get a Halloween costume at Party City (its a place for party/Halloween stuff), and I asked if there where any cosplay costumes. Well of course the staff-person had no idea what I was talking about, so I had to explain it. I know some people don’t know these fandom terms, so this post is to explain them.

These are some of the most used terms I’ve heard so far.

Fandom– Fan kingdom/ Fanatic Domain

Cosplay– dressing up as someone or something from a TV show, book etc. and acting like that person.

Fangirling– The state someone is in while over reacting about something fandom related

Fangirl/Fanboy– refering to someone in a fandom

Feels– A term used while fangirling

These are only a few of the many, and most people, sometimes even the ones not in a fandom, already know this stuff.

If there is anything I got wrong please tell me so I can change it!

So, are there any terms that I didn’t explain that you would like defined?

Homework

So tonight I’ve been doing homework since 5:00 PM and now its 8:20 PM. I didn’t even have homework in all subjects, I had to write a story about weather in science, about 20 problems for math (3 pages), this blog post, and study for a test. I didn’t even have time to go to JAM tonight (its a church thing). Not to mention I still have to proof read my science homework. I’m estimating I will finish by 8:40 PM. I know a lot of people have problems with homework, but what about the people who have things to do after school? For me some nights I could have 30 minutes of homework while other nights 3 to 4 hours of homework, and i’m not even taking a language!

How much homework do you have?

Top Lockers VS. Bottom Lockers

We all have our own opinion on which locker is better, top or bottom? In 6th grade I got a top locker, which was fine since I am tall, but you usually can’t put your stuff on the ground due to the fact that someone has the locker bellow you. This year I have a bottom locker, which I personally like better since you get to put your stuff on the floor. The bad thing about it is when I’m trying to put away or get my stuff, I have to wait until the people with the top lockers move so that I can open my own locker.

So what do you like better, bottom or top lockers?

Fandoms

So some of you have no idea what a fandom is or what it’s about, and you need to know because I might be talking about fandoms in later posts. A fandom is (as I like to think of it) a fan kingdom, you might have a different definition, but that’s mine. Fandoms are usually for bands, TV Shows, movies, and books. The people in the fandom are called either a fanboy or fangirl and are obsessed with it.

There are also different types of fans, ranging from the type that think about it constantly and talk about it allllllll the time,  to the type that are quiet and don’t usually say much on the topic. I fall under the category of thinking almost it 24/7 😉 but not exactly talking about it much unless I meet another fan.  I have been in fandoms since about 6th grade (although not many know that), starting with Doctor Who.

Also, this has never been my case, but some fans get bullied for talking about a fandom, I’ve never seen It happen, but I know it happens. But also, if you are not in a fandom and think you are going to start watching a TV show or something, BEWARE, and be prepared (by means of having time to be on your phone or whatever 24/7)! Also there is a difference between watching a show and being in that fandom. I will leave it up to you to decide if you are or are not in one!
