Why Audible is Awesome

I personally enjoy reading, but having books read to you somehow just draws people in in a completely different way.

For one, you can multi-task with it. For example, often I see people listening to music while walking their dogs, but I listen to Audible. Or sometimes while I’m doing homework, I can listen to a nice book as I solve math problems. Or sometimes, I just listen for fun.

It also helps you fall asleep. Everyone knows that reading helps you fall asleep, but in my experience, listening to a book does the same. Sometimes I’m realy tired, but can’t fall asleep, and don’t want the lights on, so I just fall asleep listening to Harry Potter.

Some people dislike reading, but for some reason enjoy listening to a book instead. I still don’t know why, but listening to a book is compley different than reading one. If the imagery is good enough, it sometimes feels as if you are in a movie.

A Interesting Pet

Out of all the animals I have known — dogs, horses, small pets, forest animals — there has only been one that struck me as a mystery.

He was a fish.

Yes, he realy was a fish. He was a Baita and dark blue. The day I walked into the pet store to get a new Baita (he wasn’t the first), I saw almost all of them looking unwell; tails were broken off in places, and they swam in slow, robotic circles. All of them… except for one.

He was speeding around his little container, looking heathy and bright. When I walked up to him, he just stopped and stared at me. His eyes got realy big, but not in a scared way, and he just kept looking at me. Naturally, I brought him and named him Wonder.

I don’t know what was up with this fish, but it was like he was trying to make me laugh. One day I came home and softly placed my finger on the tank to watch him, for I have always been fascinated by marine animals. He swam out of the window of his little house, rushed to the top of the tank, then down to my finger, back to the top, then back to my finger. And he did this for three whole muinuites! Also, whenever I brought out his fish food, he would swim to the bottom as if I would place the food down there.

Wonder realy was a mysterious fish, and like I said in the beginning, he loved to stare at people with those big eyes. I’ve never met a fish like him.

Training my Dog

I have two dogs: one I got when I was five, and the other I got two years ago.  Sense I got my first dog when I was younge, I never had the chance to train her, and now she’s a little to old/grumpy, but a new opportunity rolled my way when I got London two years ago.

Even though they were similar breeds they were completely different! London took about a year to potty-train even though we knew what we were doing. And to make it clear how frustrating this is, Bella, my other dog, was trained in two weeks. Luckily though, I was in school for the majority of her training, and didn’t have to go through that. Other than the fact that she took a lot longer to train, she is also the craziest and friendliest dog you can ever imagine, unlike Bella. This is usually a very big plus, but she would run up and lick the face of any stranger if they come bursting though our door.

To go back to the topic of my title, I decided to try and train London to do a few new tricks. It’s been an exiting proses so far, and it’s always amazing when she finally gets the hang of something new. It’s been lots of fun, but I’ve had to be very patient. Who wouldn’t? For all of those people out there with dogs who have already learned millions of tricks, congratulations, but for the others, good luck on trying.

Like many other things, electrinics is something that I have a very mixed opinion for.

First, they are entertaining. Playing a quick game on your phone on the bus, or watching tv when you’re bored. There are countless days where I wake up and it’s raining outside; I’m an outdoor person, but I’m not going to go and splash in the mud. So why not just pull out my iPad and play some games?

The other thing is, they are distracting. Sometimes I wish they just didn’t exist so I wouldn’t have the temptations to play them. I would so much more rather watch a movie than do homework, but I don’t. It also is a time-waster. I know it’s fun, but also I know people who have though that they were playing for only five muinites when they were playing for five hours.

lastly, they are useful. It’s better for the environment to do some assignments online. (We don’t have to cut down as many trees for paper.) Or you can use electronics to check the weather. Even cameras can keep memories for us.

I think electronics are good if they are used for the right things…but we can still play games on them every once in a while, right?

Okay, before you read this and judge me, I want to point out that I was only seven. I also was living in a different place at this time, so I wasn’t in Autstin. Also, if you don’t know by reading the title, this is a story about me getting lost.

It was another dreadful day. The sky was dull, but the sun was too bright. It was warm outside, but wind kept picking up, and that was cold. It was as if the world just wouldn’t make up its mind. But never less, I was happy that it was going to be another whole day of laying in bed and watching tv, but no.

I was outside in the smelter in heat, riding my bike further and further away from home. My family loves to take long walks. We finally turned back, and I took the first chance I got.

“Hey Mom, sense your walking, and I’m riding a bike, can I just ride my bike home by myself? It would be so much faster. I know the way.”

“We’re realy far from home, you’ll get lost.” I grumbled the next few hours, annoyed on spending my one of my two days off from school taking a five hour hike. When we were close to home, I asked again.

“Now can I ride my bike the rest of the way home? We’re almost there.”

“Okay, okay, fine. First go straight, then…….and take a left at Bella Road, and……” I listened carefully to her directions, and took off.

I peddled as fast as I could, knowing I would be home soon. Finally I came to a halt, trying to remember the directions Mom told me on how to get home. ‘What was I supposed to do now? Take a left at…Belvery road?’ The sign right in front of me was Belvery Road, so I took a left and carried on my way.

Have you spotted the mistake? My mom said to take a left at Bella Road, I took a left at Belvery Road.

By the time I got home, it was extremely late, I had talked to a lot of strangers for directions, and my mom was worried sick. I don’t remember much after that, but I guess it was a bit of an adventure.

Why Amimals/Pets are Awesome

There are many things that are nessesary for life: food, water, shelter, I could go on. But what I think one of the most important ones, is pets.

I don’t just mean dogs and cats, even if they do matter. You can have a horse, a goat, a hamster, a lizard, a fish, even a snail. They can all change your life.

For starters, they are helpful. Like when you drop that one raisin on the ground, and your arms are full of other objects so you can’t pick it up, *bam* your dog ate it, leaving you one less thing to do that day. Or when your feeling extremely stressed, just watching your fish swin in circles can be calming. You want to learn a little more about life hand on, or just want to watch something cool, well watch a bearded dragon (a lizard) stalk a cricket down. It’s realy interesting to watch.

Other than being there whenever you need them, (because honestly, they can’t realy go anywhere else) they are realy good company. One time I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn’t fall back asleep. I was getting bored when I saw my dog right next to me staring into my face. It was a little creapy, and she wasn’t allowed upstairs in my bedroom, (Mom wasn’t happy about that…) but she made my night. I realy needed the extra company that night, even if she was a dog.

Back to the helpful thing, but still in a different category, they can teach almost anyone a lot of responsibility. My little brother has never been so eager to do a chore. (He feeds the dogs.) They also get you into shape. I took my dogs on a two hour hike the other day. Okay, so maybe fish don’t get you exercise, but you do have to clean their tank. (I don’t believe in automatic cleaners and I never will. The tank is still dirty even afeter I place one in.)

You might think they are annoying, but honestly, you can turn anything they do into a laugh. Like when your dog is realy muddy and walks all over you; would you get mad, or give a big laugh and scratch that spot behind their ears. I didn’t enjoy when my guinea pig peed on me though…

All I am trying to say is, get a pet. They are the most wonderful and amazing thing that will happe to your life, no joke. I love animals, and I won’t think badly of anyone who doesn’t, but you realy are missing out. And if you are allergic to fur, get a lizard, a fish, a hedgehog, anything. They are all different, but all sweet and unique.

There is multiple things that I don’t understand and/or don’t like homework, or think that it is a amazing studying tool.

First, I don’t understand why teachers say “since it’s a no homework night, you’re going to do the homework in class.” Isn’t homework supposed to be at home? It’s literally in the name.

Second, I don’t understand the point of homework that is the easiest thing in the world, but takes you two hours anyway becuase it is so long. I would much more rather some difficult homework that takes me a lot less time. Also, there are those few days where you get home, go to a basketball game or something, your family decides to go out for dinner, and you end up coming home around ten o’clock. You’re just so exited to lay in bed and go to sleep when you realize there is a stack of homeowrk to be done lying on your kitchen table.

Third, homework is an extremely nessesary thing, or at least in my opinion. I would fail every single math test is I didn’t have homework; watching the teacher do all of the problems is just not enough. Homework is studying, just in a form where it can be complete or incomplete work, unlike studying. For another example, I can use the vocabulary packet instead of flash cards or quizlet. Flash cards don’t really help me, so there’s another reason why I want homework in this world.

Overall, I don’t know what exactly to think of homework. It’s nessesary, and I don’t mind doing it sometimes, but I also wish my dogs enjoyed the taste of paper sometimes, so they could eat it for me. Exept for the fact that everything is online these days and I could just print another copy. Homework, you can like it or hate it, but you do it anyway. Have a fantastic day everyone, and I hope you don’t have too much homework today.

My Horseback Riding Experience

In my opinion horseback riding is many, many things. It’s not just something you do. It’s about pushing yourself to try harder. It’s about getting out in some of the worst weathers. (Although, if it’s raining you can’t go out because the ground is too wet.) It’s about looking at the jump ahead of you and telling yourself that you can do it.

I ride once every week on a horse named Billy, though I wish I could ride more. For those of you who think horseback riding is a walk in the park, you’re wrong. I’m sorry to say it, but you just are. Maybe taking a trail on a good behaving horse is, but when your instructor tells you to try and post (rise up and down while trotting) without stirrups then go over a jump without them, it isn’t. We had this thing called no stirrups November. My legs were on fire! (They were sore.) If you don’t know what a stirrup is, it’s the place where you put your foot in.

Overall, I love horseback riding. It may not be a sport depending on your definition of it, but it sure is a workout. It really is the best experience in the world; letting the wind whip in your face, and flying over jumps. I know that it’s not really something that everyone does, but neither is skiing. We all have our own special things.

Have a great early release day everyone!

Christmas Break and Summer Vacation

I love breaks from school, but sometimes after a few months or weeks without school I find myself sitting on the couch, extremely bored. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I wish there was more school, I just don’t know what to do when I’ve been home for weeks doing nothing but watching TV.

I can’t think of any more ways to elaborate on that, so… Time to talk about Christmas! If you haven’t read my previous post about my Thanksgiving-Christmas, this might not make sense, but it probably will. I am having a completely chill Christmas (I think) becuase I had Christmas already on Thanksgiving. But either way I’m probably going to wake up at three in the morning and not be able to fall asleep. It happens every year.

I got home today to find a bunch of presents under the tree. At first I was  trying to find mine when I realized they were all the same shape and size. I was confused at first, but then I remembered. We all get to open a present on Christmas Eve, pajamas and a new ornament. I know these three paragraphs are random, but I have so much and so little to say at the same time. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

My Thanksgiving-Christmas

Every year for Christmas my family goes to my Grandmas house in Weatherford. But this year we couldn’t, so we went for Thanksgiving instead.

The whole week was literally Christmas. We didn’t even eat a turkey! Instead we drank hot chocolate, played bingo where you get lots of presents, ate Christmas dinner, and went to a place in Dallas where we went snow tubing.  Even the weather cooperated; everywhere had frost, and it was freezing outside.

It was weird going back home and realizing that it wasn’t Christmas, and almost all of my friends had stayed home. But later this year, when it’s actually Christmas, I’ll get to have a relaxing day, not go places all the time, because my family likes to do lots of things for Christmas.
