7th Grade

This year, 7th grade was a struggle. Last year was so much easier! This year we had so many more quizzes and tests and a whole lot more homework! I just can’t wait to be an 8th grader.

This year I did learn a lot though! I learned more than I expected to, but with learning all that stuff and being tested on it was very stressful! I feel like I was stressed this whole year at every second, and I never really had time to do what I wanted to do after school. But one good thing is that I didn’t have as much drama as I thought I would this year! Before I went into 7th grade everyone was telling me how much drama I was going to have, but surprisingly my friends and I didn’t have that much drama! Another thing that I enjoyed was not being the babies of the school. I felt so small and pathetic last year. Those are about the only good things out of 7th grade. Other than that one word I would use to describe 7th grade would be stressful.

I just can’t wait to be the oldest at the school next year and I really can’t wait for summer to come so I can have a three month break!!

Compassion- Helen Keller

Helen Keller was a girl that was both blind and deaf, and you could imagine how hard that would be. No one could control her or communicate with her. She was a wild child. Until Anne came along.

Anne had compassion for Helen. She never gave up on her even in the hardest times. She taught her almost everything she knew, starting with words. Anne would do sign language as Helen felt her hands so she could make the same letters with her own hands. Even when Helen would hit Anne and fight with her she never gave up. What made Anne push through all of the struggles was her compassion.

Helen Keller went on to be a big success. She got to go to college, along with Anne who translated all of the lessons to her. If it wasn’t for the compassion of everyone Helen was loved by she would have never been able to achieve all that she did in her life.

Surfing

The water is cool to the touch, a shiver runs through my body. I’m in the middle of a crystal clear ocean with a tint of blue, surrounded by green, lush mountains.

I sit on the hard, rough, white big board attached to me by the ankle. I hear the waves crashing all around me, creating a peaceful sound. I look over my right shoulder and see a giant wave, towering over my head, coming towards me. I whip my head back towards the shore, nervously. I close my eyes and take a deep breath.

Then I begin to paddle.

Color

Colors make this world a better place. They add brightness, difference and happiness. Everyone takes colors for granted because colors are part of our world and there’s no way we couldn’t have them, but what if we didn’t? What if colors didn’t exist?

In a book we read recently called The Giver by Lois Lowry their community was all about sameness, and to keep that rule everything had to be the same. Meaning everything had to be the same color, so they didn’t have any color. Just imagine a world with no color. Life would be so dull, but of course none of them knew better. If you were to grow up in a community with no color and someone told you about color, wouldn’t the whole concept be a little weird to you? This lack of color made the whole theme of the novel seem pretty sad and dull. It also made it hard to understand the setting of the book because we had no idea what anything really looked like. Same with people, it was hard to imagine what they looked like. A world without color would lack so many things. For one thing it would lack chose. Think of the shirt your wearing right now. You probably like the color of your shirt and that is an opinion. But what if there wasn’t color? You wouldn’t be stuck with the chose of choosing which shirt to buy. That also makes you lack personality. People can really tell about your personality by the clothes you wear. Colors let you show your personality. Without colors our personality wouldn’t be as unique as it is with colors.

Colors are a very important thing in this world. They let us have chose and they show our personality. Without colors the world just wouldn’t be the same, and not in a good way. We shouldn’t take colors for granted, because without colors where would we be today?

Spring Break

Usually every year my family and I go to Seaside, Florida for spring break. This year we weren’t planning on going for spring break because it is usually cold so we were just gonna go in the summer, but then my mom really wanted to go spring break too so we are going both!! I am so excited because Seaside is one of my favorite places!

I am going to Seaside with my friends Taylor and Julia and their family’s. We already have a ton of fun activities planned! One thing that we are doing is a bon fire on the beach one night! Another thing we may try to do is go parasailing! I’ve been before one time in South Padre but I never have in Seaside so I’m really excited. I can’t wait for all the fun activities we’re gonna do!

I can’t wait to get to Seaside on Sunday! I’m so glad that we get to go there for summer and spring break cause spring break wouldn’t be the same without going to Seaside!

The Phantom’s Lair

Dark, for the only light is the flickering of a candle. Lonely, for the Phantom is alone deep down in his lair.

The whole world down there is dark. I can barley see my hand in front of me. The only thing that is visible is the flickering candle in the corner by the piano. It seems as if the light can go out with a single light blow, making me feel unsafe. I feel as if the walls are closing in on me, but at the same time it feels like a big, empty, lonely space.

As I look around it looks as if I’m the only one here, but I know I’m not. I can feel the presence of the Phantom, hovering over me. I can feel his warm breath on my neck sending chills running up and down my spine.

I spin around.

Standing right there behind me is the Phantom. Wearing a long cloak and a white mask. He is holding the candle inches away from his perused lips. He lets out a light blow.

The whole room goes dark.

Expository- Cheer

Cheer competitions are one of my favorites things. Bright lights, loud music, enthusiastic crowd- all the things that make a cheer competition what it is.

The lights at a cheer competition make it all the more scary. They are so bright that you can only see the floor you are on and not anyone in the audience. The spotlight is on you and your team and it can be intimidating but it’s super fun at the same time! The bright lights aren’t the only thing though! You have to have glaring music to even call it a cheer competition!

The music is so loud it makes your ears ring. They have to make it loud enough for the audience to hear which makes it SOOO loud for you. You think that your ears may fall of cause of how loud it is but the always stay on! I haven’t lost an ear yet!! But the thing that gets me the most pumped is the screaming audience.

At cheer competitions the audience screams so loud that I know all of their throats are sore after! It really encourages you to do even better and push through the routine.

These are all the things that make a cheer competition what it is! If it weren’t for the bright lights, loud music and enthusiastic crowd I wouldn’t even call it a cheer competition.

Summertime is the Best

Light hair, dark skin, warm sun, cool water- these are all things that make summertime the best time.

I think I can speak for almost every teen that summer is everyone’s favorite, especially cause of the beaches. The cold water, warm sun, soft sand- everything that makes the beach one of my favorite places. Getting a tan makes it even better! I doubt that anyone could say they didn’t enjoy warm sun and cool water.

If there’s anything better than a tan it’s getting to sleep in. The freedom of getting to go to sleep whenever you want to cause you don’t have to get up early the next day is amazing. The feeling of waking up without an alarm clock screaming at you is even better. Waking up at 10:30am on a warm summers day is one of the best things in the world.

These are all the things that make summertime amazing. I can’t wait for dark skin and light hair!

Atlanta, Georgia

Not this weekend but the next I’m going to Atlanta for a cheer competition. I’m really nervous for my cheer competition! I hope that my team does really well especially because we have a lot of new stunts. We are competing against four other teams and my coaches said that if we hit a zero deduction routine we will probably win because our raw score is so high. I know that all of this is probably a different language to y’all because cheer talk is almost gibberish. I’m not just scared about competing, but I’m also scared of Atlanta!

I heard that Atlanta is really sketchy and scary! At first when I heard we were going to Atlanta I was super excited cause I thought it was like Atlantis but then shortly after I figured out they are pretty much opposites. My mom looked really concerned that I was overjoyed about going to Atlanta.

I’m still very excited about going to hang out with my friends and I bet it’s not as bad as my mom plays it off as!I hope that my team does super well and that we hit 0!
