Why do I read? There are a lot of reasons why I read hear are I few:

To experience new things • To watch a movie without a set cast • To explore the minds of different people and befriend different characters • To let your imagination soar above 1000 stars • To learn and relearn • To open up your mind to a thousand new emotions • To get better and facing challenges.

Because everything that matters is read – by you • It’s a relaxing act. Experience lifetimes in the space of minutes. • Because reading sharpens emotion • To solve problems • To talk to lost friends • To see authors’ different styles • To conquer fear and set love free • Because readers live a thousand lives.

That is why I read.

Percy Jackson Movies

Percy Jackson. I hate the movies. I absolutely HATE the movies, they are horrid.

Reason #1: The characters aren’t even the right age. In the first movie Percy is 16,but in the book he’s 12. That’s a 4 year difference!! Same with Annabeth and Grover. Luke is the right age but in the books he’s supposed to be 4 years older then Percy.

Reason #2: The characters don’t even look like they are supposed to! Annabeth in the book has blonde, curly hair and stormy gray eyes, but in the movie she has brown, straight hair and blue eyes. Grover is black when in the book he is supposed to be white (This is NOT racist, I am just saying what is in the book), and he does not have crutches. Percy is supposed to have sea green eyes, but he has brown eyes and his hair is supposed to be messy.

Reason #3: The storyline is wrong. Probably the most important reason, the storyline is wrong; they changed the whole plot The whole movie is about finding the pearls, but in the book Percy was handed the pearls at the bottom of the Mississippi River after falling off the Gateway Arch. Also a lot of the characters weren’t even there, Ares never even made an appearance in the movie, Luke never gave a shield to Percy, and Hades never had his helm stolen. Percy never fought with Echidna, and Posiedon never made a special cabin for Percy.

All in all, the movies were not up to par, in fact, they never even got into the hole.

Why Draco Malfoy is the most misunderstood person in Harry Potter.

One of the most broken, misunderstood, and judged characters in Harry Potter is Draco Malfoy. Can you imagine living in a family that forces you to act a certain way and like certain things and if you don’t you get punished horribly? Because that’s what Draco Malfoy went through.

In the Half-Blood Prince, Draco goes to test out the vanishing cabinet and uses a baby bird. the bird is successfully transported to the death eaters, but when it goes back it’s dead, the death eaters killed it. Draco cries because thats when he realizes that he had been allied with killers and murderers since the day he was born.

Later on in the Half-Blood prince, Draco is assigned the task of killing Dumbledore by Voldemort. Even Dumbledore knows that Draco wouldn’t be able to do it, so Snape goes instead and kills him. In that scene, you can see that Draco is very conflicted,  he wants to prove himself and make his family proud, but he doesn’t want to kill.

All of the books and movies show Draco as a boy who hates all good and is bent on being very mean to Harry, but if you think about it, he has been raised for 11 years in a family that taught him that purebloods are the best and you should never  be friends with half bloods or mubbloods. He has been raised in a family that was very strict and didn’t want him to be anything other than what they wanted him to be. When Draco started learning that what he had been taught was wrong, he wanted to stop but he couldn’t.

Draco is misunderstood, and he gets a bad reputation. If you put yourself into his shoes you’ll see that he is actually just trying to do what his family wants him to do. How could he have changed all his habits when thats all he had been learning to do for 13 years, when his family that he loves would probably disown him if he stopped.

Harry Potter Houses

I love Harry Potter!! It is the best!! It was the first book series that I read and from that point on I have been reading books. Right now I am re-reading the whole series, and as I am reading I am seeing that there is foreshadowing and little details that you miss the first few times through. What I want to talk about is the fact that there are a lot of house stereotypes.

The Slytherins are heartless. They are always shown as being evil and mean, but if you think about it, they are being excluded by everyone else so is it really a surprise that they didn’t want to help or be nice to anybody? They were excluded for not wanting to fight in the Battle of Hogwarts when the people that they were fighting might have been their moms, dads, friends, cousins, uncles, siblings even grandparents. The whole school got mad at them for not wanting to fight their family.  And there is even proof that Slytherins can turn out to be good, For instance Severus Snape, who loved Lily Potter until the day he died. Not to mention Horace Slughorn the potions master in The Half-Blood Prince. He had a weekly meeting of the “slug club” where everybody was welcome, muggle-borns and pure-bloods alike.  Not to mention Regulus Black the Slytherin who did turn to the dark side for a little bit, but then he turned right back around and tried to kill Voldemort.  Maybe some Slytherins are mean but that is no excuse to judge every single one of them just because they were placed in the house of ambition.

Ravenclaws are  stuck-up. Throughout the books they are shown as just being smart and thinking that they are better than everyone else because of it. Do you really think that they are just bent on studying? They have social lives too, they have the same drama, worries and stresses that you do. In the 4th book, the girls are shown trying to get love potions for Harry. Not to mention Luna, who is whimsical and amazing and overwhelmingly positive and doesn’t hate anyone. She isn’t stuck up and cold, She is warm and welcoming. All Ravenclaws aren’t even smart, look at Gilderoy Lockhart, the most annoying yet funny character in the book. He isn’t smart or cunning, he just puts his name on other people’s work and gets money. It’s basically plagiarism. Sure Ravenclaws are in the house of the smart, but just because they are supposed to be smart doesn’t mean that they don’t do anything else except get good grades.

Hufflepuffs are weak. They’re always called pushovers, doormats, nice and even Hagrid calls them “lot o’ duffers,”. They didn’t ask to be in Hufflepuff but they shouldn’t be sad that they are. Hufflepuff is the house of the kind and I personally, think that being kind is the best thing you can do for someone. The whole Hufflepuff house doesn’t even really show up until the Goblet of Fire when Cedric is chosen as the most worthy wizard in Hogwarts to compete, and when him and Harry get transported to the graveyard Cedric is brave and stands up to Voldemort to fight him. Cedric is very brave and he was the most worthy wizard chosen over Griffindor’s Angelina Johnson. There’s also Nymphadora Tonks, who was a auror. She hunted down and caught dark wizards. Does that sound like something a pushover doormat would do? Tonks was a fighter. She died in the battle of Hogwarts fighting for her husband, her friends, her family and most of all her son. Just because the Hufflepuffs are “nice” doesn’t mean that they are pushovers, nice means that they will give everyone a chance and they will help people in need.

Griffindors are brave. Griffindor is the main house throughout the whole story so everybody thinks that they all would be good and heroic, but that just isn’t true. Even though this is a “good” stereotype it’s not true. Sure we always see Griffindor doing the brave stuff and working hard to fix the evil in the world, but we don’t see the people who don’t care, who don’t want to work, who are scared. For instance, Peter Pettigrew, the rat, he was in Griffindor but what did he do? He sold his whole friend’s family to Voldemort, and then he hid and when Sirius found him he staged his own death and ran away! He didn’t stay and fight, he didn’t own up to his crimes, he even let Sirius, his old friend, be sent to the worst jail in the world. And after that? He hid. He changed into a rat and stayed in the Weasley family for 12 years. When he was found, he ran away yet again and then went back to Voldemort. Peter Pettigrew was the farthest away you could ever be from a Griffindor. Just because our heroes are from the house of the brave doesn’t mean everyone there is good.

My Fanfiction

I just recently started writing a fanfiction about Percy Jackson. It’s set after the giant war and it’s a betrayal story. Annabeth betrays Percy by cheating on him with his half-brother. Now, before you get mad at me, let me tell you that I  LOVE Percabeth, I would never want them to break up in the real story, but in the fanfiction it would be better if they broke up. Percy will most likely be with Thalia, but I would love if you guys gave me suggestions!

The whole plot of the story is basically this: Percy gets betrayed by Annabeth and now his only friends are Nico and Thalia; they all run away from Camp Half-Blood because they hate all the campers. When they are about to die, Chaos rescues them and they become amazing fighters. Then, 500 years later they have to go back to earth and help the gods against a enemy(I don’t know who yet) and they still don’t like them and they go back to the chaos realm, but that’s all I know right now.

The story is called betrayed and I would love if you would read it(when I publish it).

Texas Teen Book Festival!!!

Yesterday I went to the Texas Teen Book Festival (TTBF), it was SO exciting!! I loved it, I got 2 books signed and bought many pre-signed books, I got “Champion” by Marie Lu signed and I got “Death Cure” by James Dashner signed. I also bought signed editions of “If I stay” by Gayle Forman, “The 100” by Kass Morgan, and “Deceived” by L.A Starkey, I ALSO (I know I did a lot of things) bought regular editions of “Five Out of the Dark” by Holli Anderson, and “The 5th Wave” by Rick Yancey.

I went to this writing camp where they chose 1 person to represent each class at this festival. I wasn’t chosen but I still went and they make a book with all of the children’s writing in it and they have it published(so technically I’m a published author). After that I went to stand in the MILE LONG book sales line, BOOK SALES! The book sales line was longer than the actual author signing line, thankfully It didn’t take that long. While I was in the line my friend Maddie(her blog is under the “friends blogs” tab) found me and we talked. After like an HOUR I finally got into the tent and bought all of the above books.

When I finished buying the books, me and Maddie went to the James Dashner keynote, which was him telling us young people how he became a published author and it was really interesting. He wanted to be a published author for a long time but since it was really hard he instead became an accountant, and he really struggled to become the big author he is today. after that we waited in the line to get our books signed, since we didn’t want to wait in 2 different lines, we made our parents wait in one line and we waited in the other and we got all of our books signed in 1 shot.

Right after our books got signed we went to the cafeteria and ate lunch, then we went to a panel discussion, the subject was “From Shelf to Screen” so James Dashner (Maze Runner), Gayle Forman (If I Stay), and Kass Morgan (The 100, which is a TV Show) were all there and Ransom Riggs (The moderator) asked questions about how they felt about the movie and how it was working on the set with the actors and basically anything you can think about to ask authors about their movies.

All in all the Texas Teen Book Festival was amazing and I am really looking forward to next year.

Sorry Snily!!

One of my obsessions is Harry Potter. I absolutely LOVE Harry Potter, as a result of that I have a few things about it that I am a bit over passionate about, one of those things is Jily(James and Lily) they are my OTP (one true pair) for that book series (let’s be real, I have like 100 true pairs). Anyway, these two aren’t ever really shown in the book but we all know their story.

At the end of the series it is revealed that Snape, the mean potions master, liked Lily too and that revelation sparked a never ending debate between the people who want Snape with Lily(Snily) and the people who want James with Lily(Jily). I myself like Jily because their patronus’ (a representation of their soul) go together. James’ is a stag and Lily’s is a doe, also the fact that Lily did turn down both of them but when she turned down Snape he just became all sad and didn’t do anything o try to make himself better, whereas James did things to make himself better and kept trying to make her like him, but the fact remains that the Snily shippers also have very good arguments too, and I personally think that this debate will never end.

Comment below your OTP (It could be from books, movies, TV shows, etc. it could even be real people!)
