Spring Break!

This Spring Break my family and I drove to Taos, New Mexico. Its was the longest road trip I have ever been on. It took a total of 12 hours to get there. We stayed at a house with a couple other families 15 minutes away from the mountain. I’ve been skiing the past two spring breaks, and decided to try out snowboarding. My trip to Taos was one of the best Spring Breaks I have been on, for so many reasons.

Skiing wasn’t easy to pick up, but it was so much more easier then it was learning snowboarding. My first day learning I hardly ever got off my butt. I could barely get down the bunny hill without falling. It was miserable. The next day I tried it out again. I learned how to turn on my heel and toe side down the mountain, and I didn’t fall as much. It was on the third day when it finally clicked. I could go down the mountain with almost no problem at all.

There was a lot of cool things on and off the mountain. Something I thought was really cool was how you could snowboard up a lift then snowboard down into a restaurant. It was a good spot to take a break, and eat. Also not to far away from town there is a hot springs that you could hang out and chill at. As I was driving around Taos I thought It was awesome to see all the different houses. They were almost all Adobe houses.

My trip at Taos was so fun. I will always remember all the fun times we had. All the snowball fights, getting stuck in an elevator when the power went out, and learning how to snowboard for the first time. We loved Taos so much we have already booked our house for next year.

Technology has definitely taken a turning point in the last few years. iPhones, iPods, iPads, and mini iPads have completely wiped kids dry of their energy. Energy that could have been used to play outside with their friends. Instead they all are cooped up inside staring at a screen for nearly 5 hours a day.

I’m not going to lie, I do it too. I love to just sit around, and play on my phone, but that’s not right or healthy. Some of my friends never put their phone down, and it can get annoying. Don’t get me wrong, a lot of the apps are fun, like iMovie. Technology has taken so many hours away from other things kids could have been doing.

Technology has developed so much over the past few years. One of the big improvements was the touch screen iPhones and iPads. Also, all the new cool apps that are being made. There is so much you can do with technology, but there is also so much you can do without technology. No sports include technology, because you don’t need it to have fun.

So if you realize you’re the type of person who stays cooped up all day with your phone or iPad, then take a break. Go do something outside, or play a game. Don’t spend all your energy on killing zombies when you could be playing soccer in the back yard with a group of friends.
