Cake Pops

These small but delicious things are amazing. What are they? Cake Pops. Not only are they super easy to make. But theirs also so many possibility’s. So lets get down to business. cake-pops-684163_1920

Your first going to start with baking or buying a cake of your choice.  I’m using a chocolate cake recipe. If you want to use it keep on reading. if not then scroll down.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Chocolate Cake:                                                                                                                                                                   This recipe makes two 9 inch cakes.                                                                                                                         Ingredients for the cake:

  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 1 3/4 cup of sugar
  • 3/4 cup of sweetened cocoa powder ( I personally like to have 1/2 a cup of sweetened cocoa powder and 1/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder).
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • 1 cup of boiling water

Directions :
R
Preheat the oven to 350 F. Then grease and flour the pans or I like to use parchment paper on the cake pans so it will be easier to take out of the pans.

In a large bowl sift then stir together flour , coco powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Then in the same bowl add milk, eggs, vanilla, and oil. Mix for about 2 minutes so all the ingredients are well incorporated. Then finally stir in the bowling water. After mixing all the ingredients together. Pour it evenly into the pre made cake pan.

Bake for 30 to 35 minutes. To check if they are completely baked inside take a toothpick and poke it into the cake and when you take it out if no crumbs are on the toothpick then it is fully cooked. Then let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. After that take them fully out of the pan and put it on a wire rack to fully cool.

While the cakes are cooling. Your going to need icing so I’m making it while the cakes are cooling. For the icing you can really choose anything. For the icing I’m choosing cream cheese icing.

Ingredients for the cream cheese frosting:
6 ounces of cream cheese,at room temperature
4 tablespoons on unsalted, at room temperature
1/4 of vanilla extract
4 cups confectioners sugar

Directions:
Place all ingredients in a bowl together and mix until light and fluffy.

Now that we made the icing the cake should sort of cooled. So what your going to do is cut the cake in half and cut it into smaller pieces. Then take 2 pieces of cake and rub them against each other in the icing bowl. Keep on rubbing this until all your cake is in crumbs. Since now all the class is in crumbs it’s time to make the cake pops. So what your going to do is mix together the icing and cake the best tool to do this is use your hands. When you mix all the icing and cake together you can now sculpt the balls. I used a ice cream scoops so you could have each cake pop have the same amount of cake in each one. Now your going to freeze them. Then your going to cover them in candy melts chocolate or something of your choice. Then while the cover over the cake is drying put on styrofoam and put the stick in it so its sanding up right and it can all dry.

Robins Egg Cupcakes

With Spring in full swing you have to have some sort of spring themed cupcake. That’s where this cupcake comes in. These Robin eggs cupcakes remind me exactly of spring. But  I have a little twist to them. Read and find out.

With these cupcakes your first going to start off with a chocolate base cupcake or you can change it to your flavor. My  favorite flavor besides chocolate for this cupcake is a lemon zest cupcake.

This recipe makes about 12 cupcakes.

1 1/4 cups flour, sifted
1/2 teaspoon baking soda, sifted
1/4 teaspoon salt
8 tablespoons (4 ounces)  unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 1/4 cups sugar
2 large eggs, at room temperature
1 1/4 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup whole milk, at room temperature
1/2 cup  cocoa powder, sifted (make sure this is sweetened NOT  unsweetened because it will make your cupcake bitter)

For the cupcakes:

    1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line a standard cupcake pan with 12 baking cups, and a second pan with 6 baking cups.
    2. Sift together the flour, baking soda and salt into a small bowl .
    3. Place the butter in the bowl and mix it (if you don’t  have a mixer it mix it because its quite hard or you don’t have the butter at room temp you can always pop it in the microwave) . Beat the butter until fluffy. Stop to add the sugar; mix until well incorporated.
    4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing slowly after each addition. This should make the mixture
    5. Combine the vanilla extract and milk in a large liquid measuring cup.
    6. Reduce the speed to low. Add one-third of the flour mixture to the butter mixture, then gradually add one-third of the milk mixture, beating until well incorporated. Add another one-third of the flour mixture, followed by one-third of the milk mixture. Stop to scrape down the bowl as needed. Add the remaining flour mixture, followed by the remaining milk mixture, and beat just until combined.
    7. Add the cocoa powder,  just until incorporated.

Use a standard-size ice cream scoop to fill each cupcake paper with batter, so that the wells are two-thirds full. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes. I like to have at 19 minutes but I start checking at around 15~16 minutes in.

For the decorations:

Okay yes the robin egg cupcakes really remind me of spring but I want add my own special twist. So what your going to do is use a Italian Meringue Buttercream. For the butter cream i used a recipe from Yolanda’s How to Cake it website. She is a great baker this is her YouTube channel.  So with the butter cream you’re going to add a bit of blue. Use very little because you can always put more in to it but you cant take it out.

After you get that pretty teal/light blue color. Your then going to ice it on the cupcake but completely flat.  Like this cupcake but with out without the white swirl. Then let it set for a little,

While that’s going your going to have to get the speckles some how and I have the perfect way to do it. In a small bowl take one tablespoon of coco powder it can either be sweetened or unsweetened. The add a tablespoon and a half of vanilla extract. Mix this up and with either a clean toothbrush (never been used) or a clean paint brush (also never been used). Put it in the mixture. I personally like the tooth brush better. When you first start your going to want to practice a bit so take a paper towel and sorta flick the bushels of the tooth brush and paint brush and off should come little black/ brown dots.

Tips:
For checking if the cupcakes are fully cooked either put a tooth pick or something else and put it inside the cupcake when you bring it up if there is any crumbs of the cupcake it’s not fully cooked. But if there isn’t it all good and you can eat it.
For the best way to scoop your cupcake batter use a ice cream scooper where you can push it so all the batter comes out.

Rain

Toward evening, as the light failed
and the pear tree at my window darkened,
I put down my book and stood at the open door,
the first raindrops gusting in the eaves,
a smell of wet clay in the wind.
Sixty years ago, lying beside my father,
half asleep, on a bed of pine boughs as rain
drummed against our tent, I heard
for the first time a loon’s sudden wail
drifting across that remote lake—
a loneliness like no other,
though what I heard as inconsolable
may have been only the sound of something
untamed and nameless
singing itself to the wilderness around it
and to us until we slept. And thinking of my father
and of good companions gone
into oblivion, I heard the steady sound of rain
and the soft lapping of water, and did not know
whether it was grief or joy or something other
that surged against my heart
and held me listening there so long and late.
I love rain its one of my favorite things. Every one thinks its something to be sad about you should be gloomy. Rain is so overlooked nobody really cares about it.  But in reality its really something that you should enjoys something cherish. One of the many reasons I like rain is because how  calming it is. Do you like rain? If so whats one of the things you like about it

Zilker Park also known as Town Lake Lays across Lady Bird Lake. With a park, Kayak, Paddle Board and more this is one of the most funnest places to be. If you like to exercise than you’re in luck with over a 100 acres of trails you can run, walk, bike and so much more. Even with all this we are still missing one of the most funnest things. What is it you might ask? It is the Barton Springs Pool this pool ranges from 0 to 18 feet! There’s  also diving boards and since the water is from the springs you sometimes can swim with ducks.

Should School Start Later ?

Should Schools Start Later?
Yes,yes, yes they should. Schools should definitely start later, maybe around 9-10:00. Why? Well most students stay up late studying doing homework and when students have to wake up at 6:00 to get to school by 7:00. They are definitely tired and with that the morning classes are the classes where there all still in sleep mode. Thus leading to students not having full attention towards the class.

School starting late,
Pros:
Students will be able to sleep in. Thus leading to students in there morning classes aren’t as groggy.
This also lets teacher and staff sleep in. Also with this extra time in the morning they can have staff meetings. So they then won’t have to schedule a late start day.
Students have more time to get ready.
Cons:
Many parents are working and have to get to work early. So parents who work can’t drop their kids off at school.
If schools get out later, then students won’t have enough time for extra activities out of school.

School starting early
Pros:
School gets out earlier then when schools start late.
Parents who work can drop kids off at school.

Cons:
School starting early means students who stay up late don’t have enough sleep because of having to wake up early.

This is my opinion on if schools should start early or not. Do you want school to start later?

Best Sweets for Valentines Day

I love valentines day. Since I love to bake these are my favorite treats for Valintines day.

1.Red Velvet Cupcakes

This one is sort of obvious, but red velvet cupcakes come on you can’t go wrong. Not only are these delicious but they are perfect for valentines day because they are red.

2.  Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Strawberries are the best and with chocolate over them. OMG amazeballs. Not only can you make the chocolate valentine themed but, the strawberries already red so you could just give out ones with normal white chocolate and they still will look great for valentines day.

3. Brownies

Brownies are already amazing but you make it even more amazing by making it valentine themed. You could easily get a cookie cutter and make the brownies into hearts. I have also seen people put Valintine themed sprinkles into the batter before they get baked. So when you bite into them you get a surprise of valentine sprinkles.

4. Cookies

You can easily make cookies valentine themed, there’s just so many options. You can do it easy and just use a cookie cutter and just be done or you can go all out. You can get icing sugar and decorate it. I’ve seen people go all out and put food coloring in the batter so when it is done it comes out a certain color. The sky is really your limit for decorating your cookies.

These are my favorite treats from Valentines I hope you like them.

What’s  your favorite Valentine sweet?

Should Schools Pay Students for Good Grades ?

I think schools should start to do this. Not only will this encourage students to study more, but it will also reward students for their hard work. I think all school’s, should do this because this will help students try to do good on papers and be lazy and not study.

For the things, that students gets paid for should be a test. Because if it’s just daily works it would be not fair. Because a student perhaps that day did not understand the lesson, and they took a learning check over what they just learned. They would probably not do good on it ,and it would not be fair because everybody would get paid because they did well and they wouldn’t because they don’t understand the concept. If you only did test then it would help because if you did not understand then you could go to tutoring and you could learn the concept. Then on the test they could do good because they understand and, therefore, get paid.

For the amount paid, I think that it would have to depend on the grade. This is my suggestion.

High A (95~100) = 50 or more

Low A (94~90)= 49 or lower

If the test is a final or an STAAR test I think students should get paid higher because it’s more information that they have to test on. This is my thought about getting paid.

What’s your thought about getting paid ?

Sherlock The Abominable Bride

Sadly they had had called off the Christmas special.  Instead of the Christmas special they released an episode called ” The Abominable Bride”. It was a 90 minute show  that first premiere was on January 1st  on PBS. If you missed it then you could watch it again on Saturday January 10th, 10:00 p.m ET.

The main characters of the show is Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) James Watson (Martin Freeman). The episode is based of Sherlock Holmes hardest case called “The Abominable Bride” Sherlock and Watson find them selfs in 1890’s London to solve this impossible case. I don’t want give spoilers but this indeed is a very complicated case. Normally Sherlock can figure it out very quickly but this episode you can see him very stressed out.

This is the first episode form Sherlock that was released in the United States and Britain on the same day. If you want to see more of Benedict Cumberbatch you can watch one of his newly released movie the imitation game. Or if you want to see more Martin Freeman you can watch the hobbit movies as he plays as Bilbo Baggins.

The holidays (part 1)

Most people would be happy to not have to go to work or school. Most people would be happy when it’s the holidays. The first thing most people think when the hear the word holidays, is Christmas. When I think of the holidays my first thought is Max. Max was my younger brother, my only sibling. Why you would ask that he was my first thought is because my family is the poorest of the poor. Dad works his butt off every day. Yet somehow we are always short money. Mom has a job as a maid but always is home before i get home . school.

The worst part of the holidays is Christmas its self. At our house there is no Christmas tree, no presents, and no big giant Christmas dinner. The worst of the worst is waking up seeing no presents but not for me but for Max. Almost every Christmas I remember I always had to say Santa must of missed our house.

The best vanilla cupcakes in the world

If your like any person you probably like sweets. One of my favorite is cupcakes so when i went to a book store and would look at cupcake recipes. I combined it and came up with this amazing vanilla cupcake recipe.

Here it is :
makes a dozen (12) cupcakes

1/4 teaspoon of salt
8 tablespoons of unsalted butter at room temperature
1 1/4 cups of whole milk at room temperature
1 3/4 cups sugar
2 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder
2 1/4 teaspoons on vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2 1/2 cups of all- purpose flour

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line up a standard cupcake baking pan with 12 cupcakes baking cups.
Sift together all the flower baking powder and salt in a bowl.
In a different bowl create together butter and sugar and mix together until it is light and fluffy. Then start to add eggs one at a time slowly mixing in between each egg.
In a large liquid measuring cup and the vanilla extract.
Then slowly start to add the dry ingredients and the milk into the butter egg sugar mix.
After mixing slowly add scoops of batted into the cupcake tins. Bake for 16-18 minutes.

The very first time I made these was for my older sister’s birthday. Not only were they delicious they smelled heavenly. As soon as you bite into it you hit with a amazing taste of vanilla and delicious icing. These are by far one of my favorite cupcakes I make.

Tips:

When baking these cupcakes or really anything to tell if something is cooked all the way. Take a toothpick and poke it all the way in the middle of cupcake or whatever you are baking. When you take it out and comes back mostly clean with no crumbs on it it is good and ready to be taken out of the oven. When you take it out and it has many crumbs all over the toothpick definitely put back in the oven.

This is my suggestions:
Toothpick has lots of crumbs on it when taken out 10~5 minutes
Toothpick has a some that to much but there is still quite a bit of crumbs. This is my recommend time 5~2 minutes.
Toothpick has no crumbs or super duper small amount of crumbs they are ready to be taken out of the oven to cool or eat instantly.
If you did not have time to put out the butter early so it can go from hard from your fridge to soft from being in room temperature. Just cut up a stick of butter into small slices by the time you finish getting all your ingredients.
When mixing you butter and eggs if you do not have a mixer that d owe it by itself. If the butter is too hard to mix put it in the microwave it’s okay if there is oil in the bowl hopefully it will be easier to mix.
