Star Trek v.s. Star Wars: which is better?

It’s a nerd fight going on for years since the 60’s and 70’s, and with little kids liking one side, and old guys loving the other. Which is better? Star Trek, or Star Wars?

Sequels/Prequels

Star Wars: The original trilogy was a great success, and a classic. But then, George Lucas decided to make a rushed in romance between an unlikely pair, add in reasons for how the Empire got its army that we don’t need to know, Shove in a gungan alien that basically sets the galaxy in motion by acting like a doofus, and tell the story of How I met your mother: Space version. That was called the prequel trilogy, a devastating catastrophe that burned the saga to the ground. In 2015, fans had hope for-“ahem” a new hope for the sequel trilogy. Nope. (At least in my opinion) the first movie of the new trilogy was a rip off of the fourth one. Now we can see where the other two movies are headed.

Star Trek: After the original series ended, they made the Next Generation, with Kirk, Spock, and Bones out of the picture, and replacing the crew members of the U.S.S. Enterprise with Captain Jean Luc Picard, the Klingon: Worf, Data, Geordi La Forge, etc. Then, in 2009, J. J. Abrams made a reboot of the franchise, and that started off a new future for the series. It was slightly better then the original series, but still had its own flaws. Overall, the prequel of this series overrides Star Wars’.

Characters-

Star Wars:

  • Luke Skywalker- A blonde haired, anger management needing kid that kisses his sister and nearly kills his father.
  • Han Solo- A scoundrel smuggler that everybody loves.
  • Chewbacca- His friend: the walking, shaggy carpet with a crossbow.
  • Princess Leia- Extra female.
  • R2D2 &C3PO- A trash can and a Oscar award.

Star Trek:

  • Captain James T. Kirk- The captain of the starship Enterprise. Wears the iconic yellow.
  • Spock- Half human, half Vulcan science officer. Kirk’s friend.
  • Bones- Doctor on the Enterprise. Has a pet tribble.
  • Scotty- Scottish officer that controls the beaming device.
  • Uhura- Female officer. I honestly don’t know much about her.
  • Hikaru Sulu- Japanese science officer/ fencer
  • Chekov- I don’t know much about him either.

Which is better, honestly?

Storyline-

Star Wars: A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away…                                       The movies are set during the years of the rebel alliance, a resisting group struggling to fight against the evil Empire. The Jedi knights are all but extinct, yet there’s hope for the rebellion. In the desert waste land known as Tatooine, a farm boy named Luke Skywalker is set on a journey to become a Jedi like his father before him, whilst battling Darth Vader and his master: the Emperor. Big whoop.

Star Trek: Space. The final frontier. These are the voyages of the star ship Enterprise. Its five year mission: to seek new worlds, and strange places. To boldly go where no man has gone before. The first opening words sum up the whole series. Set in the future of earth, star fleet battles against the vicious Klingons, romulans, super blood humans, gorns, etc. It’s a space epic more cooler than Star Wars.

So what do you think? My favorite is Star Trek, but I like Star Wars as well. Leave a comment and let me know which franchise you love, or love to hate!

King for a day…

King For a Day

If I was King for a day,

there’d lots I’d have to say.

With all my subjects bowing low,

and over hill, a fanfare would blow.

If I were a King,

singers would sing,

armies of fifty

and bankers: all nifty.

men who could hear, men who could see,

would all bow down before me.

The pheasants would cheer,

the wardens would raise beer,

the traitors would flee,

to see to it, they bowed before me.

The flayed would rot,

and the treasonous, killed on the spot.

A kingdom of mine,

would just be fine,

if I were a King.

The crows would caw

as each of them saw,

no man frown,

as his majesty was walking down.

A castle of stone,

hard to the bone,

and a room full of gold,

would be mine till I was old.

But all that, is just a dream,

as it would seem,

of a boy who will never be King.

Poem

Darkness still lingers in the beach sky,

and overhead gulls soar and fly.

Down below, a crab scurries down its lair,

as I smell, the salty sea air.

Another bird passes by,

and I start to think, what wonders lie,

in the ocean, beyond the sea,

that’s someplace I’ll never be.

There are beautiful things you’ll find,

although the water wasn’t meant for mankind.

This is just a poem I wrote during English class.                                                  Not like a Walt Whitman, or a Robert Frost poem, but still… The poem is the basis of what Mrs. Kriese told us to write in class: a poem about the beach, and its surroundings. I think it has a slight drop of imagery.

Let me say one thing though. Rhyming is my weakest thing when it comes to literature. But I hope it wasn’t bad…

Activity 3: Three Tourist Attractions

INTRODUCTION:

The United States has a long history of important events. But those aren’t the only things that it has. There are many wondrous sights and places to see when you visit this “star spangled” country. So grab your backpack and get ready for some extraordinary places to visit when in the United States.

1: SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION

Located in Washington DC, This chain of museums was established in 1846. It is termed “The Nation’s Attic”  for holding over 138 million items. It has nineteen museums and nine research centers that hold historical documents, machines, fossils, architecture, animal taxidermy, and other things.

2: THE GATEWAY ARCH

This huge architecture stands 360 ft, and is clad in stainless steel. Its construction started in 1963, and first opened in 1965. This catenary arch was made, and still stands in St. Louis, MO. Its dizzying views from above can give you a different perspective of the ground below.

3: THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE

The Golden Gate Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Golden Gate strait. Located in San Franscisco, CA, it’s a 1 mile wide, 3 mile long channel between San Francisco Bay and the Pacific.

OK. These are my three tourist attractions list. I know I didn’t add the Grand Canyon, the White House, etc. But if you think up of a place in the U.S. that’s a great place to visit, then feel free to comment and tell me the different places you think should’ve been on this post.
