Fiction Becomes Fact?

This invention is like something straight out of Star Trek, isn’t it? I know the article makes mention of Harry Potter’s invisibility cloak, but before there were the deathly hallows, there was first a cloaking device.  I’ve known about the concept since I first watched The Enterprise Incident in the early 1970’s.  Kirk’s ingenious plan to steal the secret cloaking device from the Romulans makes for one of my favorite Star Trek episodes ever.  Just think of the military implications of an invention that could hide the presence of a ship!  The Federation certainly couldn’t leave such technology in the hands of their enemies.

There are other examples of Star Trek technology becoming real-life inventions.  Spock, Dr. McCoy and Mr. Scott would be proud of us 21st century humans.  Gene Roddenberry and his team knew what they were doing!

  1. I wonder just how this could be made. I think that the U.S. is getting very high-tech. I wonder what inventions they would make in about 10 years. It would be cool if they could make some time machine that could take you back about a day or 2. Some people might mess around with time though, and the whole world could get ruined.

  2. Fascinating. I really would like to read more about how this thing works, and if it could possibly be an actual piece of technology.

  3. I love the idea and want to get this! I bet it will be lots of money but it is probably worth it. You could do so many pranks with this!!

  4. That is amazing that scientist can make something like that, think of the things the military could use it for if they made it on a bigger scale.

  5. That is a really cool idea but I do not think it should be available to the public. If it were available for the public then a thief could use it. If a thief got their hands on an invisibility cloak it could be a disaster. This is a really cool idea but I don’t think it is safe to release this to the public.

  6. There is actually a way to make some pyrex glass invisible for a very small cost. You just fill a pyrex beaker or something made from pyrex with vegetable oil, and then you put a smaller pyrex object (such as a test tube) and once the pyrex inside fills with the liquid it disappears.

  7. It seems so cool to think that we can make something like an invisibility cloak. I love harry potter and thought it was always a thing that he needed.

  8. This idea is a very interesting one, and could have many purposes. Some of them include amazing magic tricks, sweet book covers, and even a super protected tablet, that turns invisible on command. That would be awesome! What do you think some cool applications could be?

  9. Wow!!! This is really impressive, to think that technology has come this far it’s kind of scary. I think that this would be very impressive though.

  10. That seems really cool. I’ve never watched Star Trek or basically any movies, but that seems like somebody evil would want that!
