Student Contests

The New York Times sponsors student contests in writing reviews, composing a rap about the news, making videos, and more!  Check out details and deadlines here.  Contests are for students age 13 and up.

The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards is calling for student compositions and artwork from a wide variety of genres and topics.  Read about the writing contest here.  Read about the art contest here.  The contest is open to all students in grades 7-12.

The Texas Book Festival sponsors a teen fiction writing contest every year.  Cash prizes are awarded for first, second, and third place winners in each age category.  Winners also have an opportunity to attend writing workshops! Find out more here.  Spring 2016 deadlines will be announced soon.
